Super Smash Bros. Character Drama

Pestered - Listening to: "The Game" by Motorhead
- Reading: Textbooks for finals -_-
- Watching: Detroit Tigers baseball
- Playing: Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii
- Eating: Buffalo Popcorn Chicken from Friday's frozen
- Drinking: Diet Coke
Something has been on my mind. I've seen a LOT of characters be requested by people and some repetitive names have become just a tad annoying. These are characters that will have a very sparce chance of actually making it into a future Smash Bros. game. I'm going ot list five in particular who have a snowball's chance in the bahamas of making it in and then five alternative characters I think you might want to consider.
1: Ridley - Yes, he's popular. Yes, he's cool (as cool as someone who murdered some poor 3-year-old girl's parents and left her for dead can be), but we have a major problem in him being a character. Namely, he's huge. I mean big. Yes, he was a lot smaller in the original Metroid, but so was Kraid. There are a few problems that come with size. Since he's so big, to ballance him out, he's going to be slow. EXTREMELY slow. Like, half Bowser's speed, slow. You woudln't get slower then Ridley. Next is the matter of how tall he is. He'd have his head poke over most platforms while standing. This would also make him a big target. Of course, this would also make him overpowered as he would also have a long reach. See, it's a ballance issue.
Alternative selection to 1: Weavel - Weavel, for those who you don't know, is a rival of Samus' from Metroid Prime Hunters. He has an outstanding hatred for her as he was once a Space Pirate who was left for dead after a vicious battle. He gained a new battle armor with a blade on his arm, a turret on his torso, and a vicious ability to seperate the two. Pretty rad.
2: Poo - Poo from the Mother seems to have a decent degree of popularity. I'm surprised... maybe people just like the name? -_- But nonetheless, Poo doesn't stand as great a chance of making it in as his main character counterparts do. Why? He's not a main villain and the Mother series has been all but completely cut-off from us American gamers.
Alternative selection to 2: Masked Man - Refering to him as Masked Man so not to spoil anyone, Masked Man served as the primary villain of Mother 3 and a prime antagonist to Lucas. He'd be able to uitilize electric and sword abilities, as well as the famous PSI and PK skills. As a main villain, his chances are dramatically higher than
3: Tom Nook - Yes, the character from Animal Crossing. In fact, I doubt ANY Animal Crossing characters could make it into a Smash Bros. game. They just don't spark an any action, y'know?
Alternative selection to 3: Mii - If you want a simulator character, go with a Mii. Although you'll never see it in adventure mode, and it may bring the graphics down a bit, it'd be at least a passable entry.
4: Master/Crazy Hand - Come on... seriously? What did I just tell you about Ridley? Not only that, but... no feet! And if he walked on his fingers the whole time, it'd destroy the purpose of Master Hand completely, woudln't it?
Alternative selection to 4: Majora's Mask - A character who can be just as unpredictable as Master Hand, Majora's Mask could bring out all sorts of crazy stuff... and he'd have a body to speak of too! Or, you could make it easy and put it on Skull Kid. Yeah... kind of a weak alternative, but a believable one.
5: Master Chief - Seriously?! Yeah... not for a loooooong time.
Alternative selection to 5: Cloud Strife - In Cloud's case, at least he's been on a Nintendo system (Kingdom Hearts for the GBA). Of course... there is ONE character who should make it in over Cloud if you want a character to never have graced a Nintendo system...
Alternative selection to the alternative selection to 5: Tifa Lockhart - Because we all love Tifa, one way or another. ^_^
For now, if you want an obscurity list of characters, here are some for you to consider that you may not have.
Marina Liteyears - From Mischief Makers, one of the N64's finest.
Vectorman - From the Vectorman series
Katia - From Lost Kingdoms
Ryu Hyabusa - From Ninja Gaiden. Nintendo brought him home first.
Vivian - From Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. She was the best help, after all.
Sparkster - From Rocket Knight Adventures.
Rash/Zitz/Pimple - From The Battletoads
Earthworm Jim
Captain N - From the old-school cartoon series of the same name.
The Master - From ActRaiser 1 and 2.
Agahnim - Did anyone forget that there was also this vital villain from the Zelda series?
Agent J - One of the best new franchise here in America altered from a matching Japanese series. I like it, anyway.
Lloyd - From Tales of Symphonia
Sheena - Also from Tales of Symphonia (Lloyd needs his lover too, lol)
Mike Jones - From StarTropics
Wart - From Super Mario Bros. 2... as called in the US.
Little Mac - From Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!. Yes, he's been wanted before and is an Assist Trophy, but he'd fit well.
Lyn - From Fire Emblem for the GBA. We need more female characters to begin with.
I guess that's all... OBJECTION!
Phoenix Wright - From the Ace Attorney series. Hey, he has a whole locker full of evidence to use as weapons and abilities.
That was just a list of characters I don't think anyone would have thought of. There is also the ones I put above, who would be cool to see (Especially Tifa, lol) and the five I put in in my last edition. For those who don't remember, here you go.
Agent J (mentioned above. Hey!)
Krystal (Hopefully she'd have her spear with her)
Simon Belmont (The only other Castlevania character I'd accept is Sonia or Trevor Belmont, possibly Alucard, but Simon first.)
Mega Man (classic version. Accept no substitutes.)
Marina Liteyears (mentioned above. Shake, shake!)
Devious Comments
The Wii is a great console. It's an innovation that I'd love to see perpetuate, too. It has a lot of potential, and I see it growing in the future. Have no fear, your menagerie of wonderful characters and franchises will continue to grow. I've my fingers crossed for this one, too.

And I don't hope that Nintendo wins just for me because it's my system. I'd like to see them win so future generations have a great minagerae(sp?) of characters and franchises to start with like I and so many others did and be able to enjoy them for a lifetime. If the only game in town is GTA and Halo, then not only to the long-time lovers of real video games lose out, but so do anyone who could potentially get interested in games.

As for me... there's only one title that I am waiting for on PS3. I'm waiting to see if they'll really remake the whole FFVII on PS3. I mean, they've done the beginning, and it looks great. Despite what they say, I still think that they are working on a full revival. I'm there if it actually happens.
Other than that... well, for your sake, I sure hope Nintendo goes on strong. I don't have a lot of time for games anymore, but I do have a lot of fond memories! I want to see them prosper, too.

You're absolutely right, though. The companies can only listen to the loudest group of gamers. It's unfortunate, but it's part of the co-operate world that we live in.

Ah, but thanks for your information on Earthworm Jim's revival. I didn't know about that! I'm glad they are bringing him back, too!
